March 11, 2008 Dear Patients and Families, I am writing this letter to let you know that I have decided to no longer be part of the team of doctors at Chapel Hill Pediatrics. The decision was difficult to make after having been a part of Chapel Hill Pediatrics for almost ten years. I look forward to pursuing some lifelong dreams that have become available to me. I want to thank each of you for allowing me to step into your life and provide your child with medical care. You have been gracious towards me as I attempted to make sound medical decisions with you for your child. Some of these visits were very intimate and I want you to know that thru these visits you taught me much about trust. It will be hard for me to let go of these meaningful relationships but I realize the fruits of the relationships will always be with me…acceptance, willingness to listen, willingness to forgive me when I fell short (temper, inability to quickly make a decision, running late for your appointment) and continuing to ask for an appointment with me! As a pediatrician, these are the parts of the work I most value and for this I will be forever grateful. If you would like to speak with me about issues with your child and how to best meet their needs within the practice of Chapel Hill Pediatrics, you can call the office and leave me a message. I will call you back and speak with you. I will miss all of you but trust that you will keep up the good work that you are doing as a child/family. I look forward to seeing you in the community. Sincerely, Sharon Van Horn, M.D. |
